Omni launches the world’s first cat food made with cruelty-free chicken

Omni launches the world’s first cat food made with cruelty-free chicken

Eagle-eyed customers may have noticed that we recently changed our Omni homepage from “Delicious & healthy planet-friendly dog food” to “Delicious & healthy planet-friendly pet food”.

This is a tiny change, but it signifies a tectonic shift in the pet food industry as a whole, with Omni at the very epicentre.

This week, it was announced in the Sunday Times that our brand-new, cruelty-free Omni Feast: Chicken Revolution cat food has been created!

How it's made

Omni Co-Founder and small animal vet Dr. Guy Sandelowsky has been working closely behind-the-scenes with scientists at a UK cultivated meat start up, as well as with chefs, vets, and pet food experts from Omni to develop a delectably meaty meal for cats that is healthier, kinder, and more sustainable than any other cat food on the market.

Omni Feast: Chicken Revolution is a hearty mixture of cruelty-free chicken meat, plant proteins, vegetables, and gravy, cooked to perfection, representing a much anticipated milestone in harmless, healthy meat.

By carefully removing just a few cells from a single chicken egg - a process done just once - our team can now create, in theory, billions of kilograms of genuine chicken meat.

Much like making yoghurt or beer, these cells are nurtured in a container that ensures the perfect environment for healthy growth. Just like feeding an animal, these cells are given the vitamins, minerals, and amino acids they need to grow until they become nutritious, cruelty-free meat ready to be enjoyed by our pets.

Benefits of cultivated meat

Ordinarily, chicken meat is farmed from chickens who live short, uncomfortable lives in overpopulated and unhygienic barns. This old-fashioned method of producing chicken meat is rife with disease risk, contamination, and environmental harms, not to mention ethical issues - and it does not do our pets much good, either.

As a vet-founded novel protein pet brand, we at Omni aim to improve the lives of all animals, everywhere, simply by positively transforming the diets of the animals we love in line with the latest science.

To date, we have specialised in novel protein diets for dogs, acquiring key nutrients and high-quality proteins from natural sources like pulses, algae, and yeast, with fantastic, tried-and-tested health results.

Cats, however, are quite a different kettle of (cultivated) fish, as any pet parent will tell you: dogs and cats each have unique digestive anatomies and quite different nutritional requirements from each other. This is why Omni has been working so hard to develop a cat food that still contains meat, but which simply entails none of the risks or harms of the old-fashioned methods of meat production.

The chicken meat in Omni Feast: Chicken Revolution is not only slaughter-free, but is also free of GMOs, dangerous hormones, and antibiotic residues.

Coming soon!

This cat food range is not only a first for Omni: our vet-led team will be making history by launching the world’s first cultivated meat products that you can simply go out and buy from a shelf on the highstreet when they launch later this year. We firmly believe that this will change the way that both pets and people will eat forever.

You can sign up to our cultivated meat mailing list here to be the first to know when our ethical, sustainable cat food launches for sale:
